Challenge I: Food for the Soul

For it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2.13

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."

John 3.14-17

Please share Scriptures that you are memorizing this week--if you email them to proverbs31challenge@yahoo.com, I'll put them in this post, or you can just add them to the comments.

Challenge I

For the Week of 27 March-1 April:
1. Be awake for 3 sunrises (verse 15)
2. Prepare 2 fabulous meals for your family, roommates, or friends (verse 15)
3. Exercise vigorously for 30 minutes 3 times (verse 17, verse 25)
4. Memorize 3 Scripture verses (verse 26)
5. Skip all desserts but 2 (except for Sunday--verse 17, verse 25)
If you complete the challenge before Sunday, April 2, send an email to proverbs31challenge@yahoo.com letting me know and I will enter you in a drawing to win a $20 book of your choice from Barnes&Noble online. The greatest prize, of course, will be drawing nearer to God through discipline and training in righteousness. Enjoy the challenge and feel free to comment with updates on how it's going--especially sharing which verses you choose to memorize!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Proverbs 31 Weekly Challenge Blog. This idea is the fruit of years of meditation on Proverbs 31, a lifetime of needing more discipline, and some special experiences of Christian sisterhood in striving to be like the Proverbs 31 woman.
